Creativity has Changed my Life

Hello everyone!

As many of you know from my past posts, I love rock tumbling. It’s a great hobby, lots of fun and always gives me something to look forward to. I love discovering the treasures held within each individual rock. Some are surprisingly beautiful after they are all polished up and shiny. I also love to make orgonite using different metals and crystals mixed in resin. The exciting news is, I have recently combined my two creative endeavors into a third one!

I was watching YouTube, as you do, and came across this really cool guy who works with resin crafts – Steve McDonald Arts and Crafts. He’s quite good and I really enjoy his narrative and amazing creativity. He loves resin and makes lovely crafts.

He also tumbles stones! On one of his videos, he mixed loads of his tumbled stones with resin and then poured them into a mold. It came out so cool! I had to order the mold and try it myself!! It’s great to be able to use my polished stones in another way and I really love the result!

I’ll share his video below so you can also do your own rock/resin project it you like. It’s so much fun and the exciting part is the unveiling of the awesomeness that is inside the mold. I took some photos and a video so you can see what I’m talking about and to also have a good laugh as I ‘birth’ this skull. (I had to put gloves on as I cut myself during ‘Take 1’ of the unmolding and got some blood on the mold! 🤣 🤣 The resin on the bottom part is a bit sharp.)

I am having such a blast creating cool stuff with rocks and resin! It really has changed my life – I have a lot more energy, get excited about my creations, and look forward to making more! I recently took a trip to Shropshire Crystals wholesale warehouse – a lovely hours drive from where I live. I had a blast looking through all the rocks I could use for my new creations! Of course being a rock tumbler myself, I know how long it takes to acquire a good amount of rocks – even with 3 machines now! It takes many months, so in order to have enough rocks to make my resin skulls, I had to purchase some – oh well 😉 even more fun!!

I just love rocks and it’s nice to be able to show them off in a cool creative way! My very first skull, I call him Bubbles, made me laugh so much. He gave me a very excited feeling while I was waiting to dis-mold him! When he finally was birthed out of the mold – I was so amazed at how cool he looked! He really makes me chuckle! Honestly, prior to making Bubbles, I really had no interest in, nor was I ever attracted to crystal skulls – just wasn’t my thing.

Such a happy skull!

I’ve made 2 additional skulls since, one the same size as Bubbles and a smaller one. I love them all! So very cool to be this excited about creating! It really is so much fun and I don’t believe I’ve ever felt this way before about anything else I’ve ever created. I just love seeing the end product!

A quick note on the silicone molds: Some molds are for candle making and other crafts and can leave a dull finish on a resin project. It’s prudent to check that the molds are for resin and leave a shiny finish. The little skull in my feature image is from a ‘dull’ mold. To make it shiny, I had to add a light coating of resin on the surface. I won’t be using that mold again for resin. Bubbles and the other large skull were created in a mold made for resin and therefore came out nice and shiny.

Hope you enjoyed this post! I had a lot of fun making it! As events percolate in the world around us, I feel creativity will be a saving Grace. It feels to be very important now, and certainly is loads better than watching the main stream news or other ‘opposing’ views which now-a-days is really hard to discern the truth. So laughter and creativity certainly will help to get us through these turbulent times.

Be well on your journey and please check out my other website! Tumbled Stone Creations!

I guess you perfectly said it in this chaotic world full of distractions and negative energy, arts can be our medicine. Keep creating and doing what makes your soul dance.
