Do you ever fret over making big decisions? Do your emotions get in the way trying to make everyone happy? Does your mind cloud things up with reasons, justifications and pros and cons? Or maybe you just blurt out an answer to end the torture! Decisions made this way usually are not in your best interest and can get messy.
The mind should never make a decision.
Human Design was brought into existence by a man called Ra Uru Hu in 1987. I’ve been studying Human Design and have come to see it as a very valuable tool. I’m not even sure how I lived without it for so long. Each and every single one of us has an authority, a place that exists in our body which knows what’s best for us when making big life decisions.
Loads of information exists on the internet addressing and teaching Human Design. I have included some links below for you to get more information and a free chart. What I will share with you here is just the tip of the iceberg, but vital to know. The most significant constructs in Human Design are called strategy and authority. These are the basics and really, the most important!
Types
There are 4 types of people: (The following information can be found at Jovian Archive)
- Manifestors: are about nine percent of the population. Their strategy is to inform before they act to find peace and avoid anger. They have a closed and repelling aura, and are here to understand their impact on others.
- Projectors: are around 20% of the population. Their strategy is to wait for the Invitation to find success and avoid bitterness. They have a focused and absorbing aura, and need to learn about and understand the other.
- Generators/Manifesting Generators: are the dominant Type on the planet with nearly 70% of the population. They are the driving life force of the planet. Their strategy is to respond, and through response to find satisfaction and avoid frustration. They have an open and enveloping aura, and need to learn about themselves.
- Reflectors: are without definition and are just over one percent of the population. Their strategy is to wait a full cycle of the moon before making decisions to find clarity, leading to a life of more surprise and less disappointment. They have a resistant and sampling aura, and are learning to reflect rather than identify.

The body graph looks a bit complex and overwhelming, but once you learn a few key things, it’s quite neat to explore.
Only Generator’s are built to work. They have a “battery” in the sacral center which allows them to work all day long without much trouble. Their’s is sustainable energy. It is of course better if they love what they do! Manifestors have energy to initiate, then they step back and rest. Projectors are meant to be guides – not necessarily to work. Reflectors have no battery at all and reflect what is going on in the community.
The strategy is different for each type too. If you are a Generator – you need to wait to respond. Only Manifestors can initiate – (so the Nike slogan “Just do it” only applies to 9% of the population.) For example, as a Generator, you might get a great idea to start a new project. If you were to just go ahead and start it – you would have struggles. Your strategy is to respond and wait for signs – your friend gives you a suggestion to start that project or you see something on TV that is related to your project – that’s a sign the time is right!! Go ahead and get started!! And, Projectors make out best when they wait for an invitation!
Inner and Outer Authority
Making decisions: (The following information can be found at Jovian Archive)
Authority is a tool for you to know if something is right for you, or not. Separated into two kinds of Authority—Inner and Outer—below, are overviews of each.
Inner Authority
The inner intelligence that enables us to know whether a decision is correct for us or not is called Inner Authority. It is as though each of our bodies possesses an inner compass or device that reveals whether something is a healthy and fulfilling use of our energy, or not. Our Inner Authority is a body-based knowing that precedes the cognition of the mind, and thus accessing it requires us to become more embodied and to listen better to our bodies. As we do so, we move into a state where we more often experience the “Signature” that results from the correct use of our energy, be it satisfaction, success, peace, or surprise.
Outer Authority
What we call Outer Authority in Human Design is the ability to provide your authentic perspective. This perspective is derived from your particular design, as an expression of your uniqueness. We as nine-centered human beings are designed to commune with others and share our unique perspectives about life, truth, and everything in between. We can be of the highest possible service to others when we communicate our insights, ideas and opinions at the right moment. It may be in response, or when invited to share. Using your mind in this way, it becomes a resource for others.
I’m a Manifestor with Ego (heart) authority. I’m still very much in the early stages of the experiment and noticing what happens within my will/heart center when it comes time for making big decisions. If I feel enough will power to fulfill a commitment when confronted with making a decision or a promise, then it’s probably a good decision for me. I’ve been in job interviews when I stated with no doubts – I’ll be here for at least one year – and it’s always been true. If I’m not saying that at an interview – I usually don’t take the job.
We are all designed to work together!
Again, this is the very tip of the iceberg. As with all information, please use discernment when surfing the web. Human Design has turned into a “new age” type offering with lots of people trying to cash in. I’ll list some of the main links below to help you get a free chart and started learning the basics.
It takes at least 7 years to decondition the open centers – for which the mind speaks. When you get your chart, notice the open centers – the ones that are white – these are centers that are conditioned through our life and cause us the most problems and dilemmas. For example, I have an open base center and I’m always trying to get things done really fast so I can rest and have freedom. This is conditioning and pressure from the undefined base – it’s not who I am but I act as if it is. My undefined head center always feels pressure to answer questions from me and everyone else! It’s an impossible task, but our conditioned (not-self) mind will keep us running around doing things that are simply not good for us. My throat is defined, so I can rely on consistency from this center.
It’s hard to stop writing about it – but like I mentioned, there’s tons of information!! Hopefully this little introduction to Human Design has stirred your curiosity to finding out more about it – ultimately finding out more about you! When you learn about your design, you can’t help but feel relieved. After all, it’s your design and who you are meant to be.
Also, Human Design is great for children. It’s important for parents to know your child’s design and raise them accordingly. The founder of Human Design, Ra Uru Hu stated that Human Design was brought to the planet to help the children.
I’d love to answer any questions you have to the best of my ability, if not I can point you in the right direction!!
